As of January 1, 2024, MacEwan’s benefit providers are:
- GreenShield – Health, Dental, Health/Wellness Spending Accounts, Benefits Administration
- Desjardins – Life & Disability Insurance
- Beneva (formerly SSQ) – Critical Illness, Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
- TELUS Health – Employee Family & Assistance Program
Here are three important things that you need to know about the benefits transition:
- Health and Wellness Spending Account balances are being reconciled and transitioned from Canada Life to GreenShield. Once the 2023 balances are received from Canada Life, they will be loaded into the GreenShield system along with the 2024 credits. Balances will be uploaded to employees’ GreenShield accounts and, once this transfer is complete, we will post an update on the MacEwan Benefits It is anticipated to be completed the week of January 22, 2024. If you have submitted a spending account claim and it was declined, GreenShield will automatically reprocess once the balances have been uploaded.
- Outstanding health and dental claims from 2023 can be submitted online through the GreenShield+ system for adjudication. You will need to register on GreenShield+ or download the GreenShield+ mobile app to submit claims and view your benefits card. You will be able to submit outstanding Health and Wellness Spending Account claims once the balance transfer from Canada Life is complete.
- GreenShield is hosting Employee Benefits Information Sessions to help you become acquainted with the GreenShield+ system and answer your questions. Advance registration is not required.
