The Centre for Teaching and Learning has a new program to support the development of intercultural competence in your practice and your students.
There are three sessions in the Level 1 series:
- Perspectives on intercultural competence
- Intercultural competence in higher education
- Developing intercultural competence
Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program level.

Perspectives on intercultural competence
Have you been thinking about ways to develop cultural competence in your classroom and help you create a more inclusive practice? We will discuss the key concepts related to intercultural competence and develop a foundation for subsequent conversations about themes, content and skills related to cultural diversity and cultural competence in higher education.

Intercultural competence in higher education
Have you been grappling with the sticky points of intercultural competence in your practice? We will discuss some of the current tensions and advancements in cultural competence in higher education – both domestic and international. This session will elaborate on the developmental aspect of cultural competence and the challenges with understanding cultural competence.

Developing intercultural competence
How can I determine whether I am developing my cultural competence? How will I evaluate students? We will discuss some of the ways to understand development in intercultural competence and possibilities for evaluating cultural competence.
