In response to evolving security threats posed by hackers and spammers, MacEwan University is enhancing its online safety and security education course. Apart from revisiting conventional phishing and spamming techniques, participants will be educated about emerging cybersecurity methods.

On September 25, 2023, phase one of the program will be available to all staff and faculty and must be completed within 60 days. Annual program completion is mandatory only for:

  • Probationary and continuing staff
  • Full-time and part-time tenure track, tenured and sessional faculty

The IT Security Training offers adaptability, allowing participants to either engage in a single session or proceed at their preferred pace during the specified 60-day timeframe.

Although not mandatory, contract staff is strongly encouraged to complete the program. Users who do not complete the mandatory program may have their network access revoked until they’ve completed it.
