Drs. Emily Milne and Kaitlyn Towle, along with other MacEwan collaborators, are starting a MacEwanCYU program – a MacEwan-based children and youth university program that offers meaningful learning opportunities in the Edmonton community. For several months, we have been working with the wonderful students from Ben Calf Robe Elementary/Junior High School.
We are inviting the entire MacEwan community to join us on June 2 anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the Robbins Health Learning Centre.
We hope you will help us show these students that they are seen and heard, and that they know we are proud of them and believe in them.
During the celebration, you can see how students have been documenting what they have been doing and learning using photovoice methods, where they pair selected photos with captions and titles, to tell their story and share their voice. MacEwan faculty will also be providing exciting hands-on activities for students and attendees – making DNA necklaces, using telescopes and offering chemistry demos.
MacEwan faculty, staff, and students are welcome, and we are inviting others outside the MacEwan community as well – including students from a few local schools. We are hoping to celebrate this group of Ben Calf students while planting a seed about postsecondary opportunities for all the students who can come!
Thank you for your time and consideration, and we hope to see you on June 2!
From Dr. Emily Milne and Dr. Kaitlyn Towle
