Did you know that the SAFE@MacEwan safety app has a WorkAlone feature?
Working alone requirements apply when individuals are working alone and assistance, in the event of an injury, illness, or emergency, is not immediately available. An example is when someone is working before or after building hours alone. This feature will automatically check in on you and trigger a call to Security Services if you fail to check in via the app at the scheduled intervals. Here’s how it works:
- Download the SAFE@MacEwan app from either the App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices) and be sure, when prompted, to enable location services and push notifications.
- Log In with your MacEwan Credentials (SSO).
- Start the WorkAlone Session – Start the WorkAlone session and provide the requested information, including contact details, work location, expected duration on campus and check-in frequency.
- Check-In – As prompted by the app, check-in at scheduled intervals.
- End the Session – When finished, cancel the session via the app.
If you do not have a mobile phone, please call Security Services dispatch at 780-497-5554 to advise them you are working alone.
