Did you know that choosing your benefits is just the first step? Once the annual benefits enrolment window has closed there are still some things to know and do to get the most from your benefits.
Know:
- If you did not make any changes during annual enrolment, your benefit coverage will remain the same for the upcoming year.
- Your new benefit choices are effective January 1. Note: All new benefit choices will be updated in the claims system after the first week of January. You may need to pay out of pocket for a claim to allow for the system processing time, then submit the claim online for reimbursement.
- Benefit choices can be updated every fall through the annual benefit enrolment process or at any time if you experience an eligible life event, such as getting married or having a child.
Do:
- Register on Canada Life’s GroupNet for Plan Members and download the GroupNet Mobile app to submit claims online, print out additional benefits cards, sign up for direct deposit and learn more about the programs Canada Life has available.
- Ensure you have signed and submitted any outstanding beneficiary forms to
bas@canadalife.com. - If you have health and dental premiums deducted from your biweekly pay, you can submit these premiums to your Health Spending Account (HSA) for reimbursement. You can find your year-to-date premium payments by running the Benefits Premium Report from PeopleSoft Employee Self-
Service. This report will serve as your receipt when you submit your claim. - You can mail in your HSA claim for health and dental premiums, or you can submit these claims online as this option is not available on the Mobile App:
On the side select “Make a Claim”
• Scroll down and select “Start Other Claim”
• Scroll down to Step 4, and select “Other Health, Dental and Drug claims”
• Scroll down to Plan and select “Health Spending Account (HSA)”
• Scroll down to “Add a Document.” Upload your Benefits Premium Report and your Canada Life Health Spending Account Claim form and hit submit.
Detailed information is available in your Benefits Booklet, which you can download from the MacEwan portal under Wellness & Benefits>Benefits>Flexible Benefits Plan.
