Starting January 10, Google will start removing the ability to record Google Meets. The ability to record Google Meets has always been a feature of the premium education plan but was temporarily made available to all service levels during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The removal of the recording feature will take several weeks to complete, so users may still be able to record meetings during the month of January and early February 2022. Any previously recorded meetings will remain in Google Drive for their user or group, unless deleted by the file owner.
Faculty can contact the Centre for Teaching and Learning to learn how to record their classes using Blackboard Collaborate. Staff are encouraged to use Microsoft Teams (preferred) or Webex to record their meetings.
If you have any questions about how to take advantage of these tools, contact technology support through the live chat.
