As the end of term and the holiday break are almost upon us, I would like to provide you with an update on our plans for the Winter term.
Many of our students, faculty and staff have returned to campus this term, and there is a wonderful energy and a growing sense of optimism in our hallways and classrooms.
This January, the norm will be for all of us to return to work on campus. We are a place-based university – being on campus and connecting in person with our students and our colleagues is at the core of who we are.
If you aren’t already working on campus, I would encourage you to prepare for your return and to reacquaint yourself with your old routines by coming to work on campus more frequently for the rest of the term. I would also remind you to take the next few weeks to finalize your plans for details like childcare, transportation and parking. If you have any questions about making the transition, please connect with your supervisor or dean.
Thanks to everyone who has downloaded the Safe@MacEwan app and uploaded their proof of vaccination or negative rapid test results. If you have not completed this, you must do so by November 30, even if you do not come to campus regularly. Please note that negative rapid tests will be accepted for entry to campus through the Winter term.
Any individual who cannot be vaccinated based on physical disability, mental disability, religious beliefs or other protected grounds is eligible to apply for an accommodation by contacting their Employee and Labour Relations Consultant.
Please continue to check your email and the MacEwan.ca/Coronavirus website for the latest information on MacEwan’s response to COVID-19.
I can’t wait to welcome all of you back over the coming weeks and in the Winter term.
Dr. Annette Trimbee
President and Vice-Chancellor
