Did you know that the SAFE@MacEwan safety app has a WorkAlone feature? For those who need to enter a MacEwan building before or after building hours, or on a statutory holiday, this feature will automatically check in on you, and can trigger a call to Security Services if you fail to check in via the app at the scheduled intervals. Here’s how it works:
- Get the SAFE@MacEwan app – Download the SAFE@MacEwan app from either the App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices) and be sure, when prompted, to enable location services and push notifications.
- Start the WorkAlone Session – Start the WorkAlone session and provide the requested information, including contact details, work location, expected duration on campus, and check in frequency.
- Check In – Check in, as prompted by the app, at scheduled intervals.
- End the Session – When you have finished, cancel the session via the app. If you do not have a mobile phone, please call Security Services dispatch at 780-497-5554 to advise them you are working alone.
If you have any questions regarding the WorkAlone feature, please don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Emergency Management at oem@macewan.ca.
