Have questions about your pension plan? Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) will be offering the following information sessions for pension eligible MacEwan University employees.

Retirement
May 5, 9:30–11 a.m.

If you are wondering what steps to take to start the retirement process you have come to the right session! The following topics will be discussed in this session:

  • When can you retire?
  • Your pension options
  • Retirement timelines

Buybacks
May 13, 1–2 p.m.

You may be able to increase your future pension benefit by increasing the length of your pensionable service. The following topics will be discussed in this session:

  • Increasing your benefit
  • Buying prior service
  • How can I pay for my buyback?

Leaving the Plan
May 20, 1–2 p.m.

You have options for your LAPP benefit if you stop participating in the plan. These options depend on how much membership or pensionable service you have in LAPP, as well as your age when you leave the plan. The following topics will be discussed in this session:

  • Two or more years of membership
  • Death before retirement
  • Disability pension

Please register for the above sessions by visiting MacEwanLife.MacEwan.ca and doing the following:

  • Select staff/faculty login in the top right menu.
  • Once you are logged in, on the left there will be a dashboard. Click on HR courses.
  • Select the LAPP information session(s) you would like to attend.
  • Register for the session(s) and ensure that you connect with your supervisor or manager to coordinate operational coverage to enable you to attend this training.
