Please join me in congratulating Dr. Wanda Costen on her new appointment as the Dean of the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University in Kingston, effective July 1, 2021.
Since joining MacEwan in 2018, Dr. Costen has brought a depth of experience to her role as Dean in the School of Business. Dr. Costen has advocated for a wide array of scholarly outputs in alignment with a teaching focus and in providing support to faculty for research through the School of Business Seed Grant Fund. Through her work with the Social Innovation Institute, she has worked tirelessly to build a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Costen has been an integral contributor to the success of the university in expanding partnerships and in creating work-integrated learning opportunities for our students. Her areas of research in racial and gender inequality and diversity have greatly benefited both the external and internal university community.
I am sure that the Smith School of Business and Queen’s University will be enriched by Dr. Costen’s expertise, her leadership experience, and her wisdom. Under Dr. Costen’s guidance, the Smith School will be well-positioned in preparing its students for the changing business landscape.
The Provost will reach out to members of the School of Business over the next few days and share with them interim plans in advance of a search for a new Dean whose term will begin ahead of the 2022/23 academic year.
Dr. Annette Trimbee
President and Vice-Chancellor
