There’s a special bond that I have with every single client I have/have had. It’s sort of like a 1 hour/week best friendship IAmy-PT400px have where we exchange life stories. I just happen to be kicking their butts while that happens.

When I aspired to be a trainer, I never thought I’d make friends, or that people would want talk about their lives while I teach them squats. I know some of them just see me as this fit woman in Lululemons and a sweat jacket, but to me, they’re my students who fuel my passion to be good at my job.

I have the rare opportunity to encourage someone’s inner child that may have gotten pushed around in grade school gym, or the ex-athlete, or the person who just wants to look and feel empowered. Fitness is something everyone can succeed in, and I try my hardest to ensure each person does.

Everyone comes to me to be better. You can hear the excitement in their voice when they know they’re getting stronger, or that their squats are looking more solid. It’s inspiring.

Though I think my favourite part of my job is getting to know each client personally. When they feel comfortable enough to tell me about their life stories, or find a mutual interest to chat about, it makes my job worth while. It doesn’t feel like work with those people, but a hang out session with a friend…. while I make them exercise.

Some trainers might be more serious, more technical, or more disciplined with their clients, but that’s not how I operate, and I think my unique and interesting clientèle is reflected with my style. I certainly wouldn’t have it any other way.

So to all my clients out there past and present, thanks for coming into my life and reminding me why I love my profession. You all rule, and I hope I helped you love fitness in some way, shape, or form.
