People often say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I disagree. I feel snacking is far more important. Snacking is an excellent way to get all your daily recommended vitamins and minerals, curb your appetite, and keep you energetic throughout the day.

Here are my favourite snacks to have throughout the day.

  1. ½ cup of yogurt with 3 tablespoons of granola.
  2. Tupperware full of veggies or fruit
  3. Handful of Boom Chicka Pop! Or Popcorn, lightly salted
  4. Hummus and Pita
  5. Homemade trail mix

Mountain Trail Mix

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients

  • ½ cup cashews
  • ¼ cup peanuts
  • ¼ cup almonds
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chunksDirections 
  • Combine ingredients together in an air-sealed container.

Avocado Lime Hummus

Makes 8 servings 

Nutritional Value

  • 2 cups cooked garbanzo beans, or canned chickpeas
  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • 1 lime, zested and juiced
  • 2 TBS Olive Oil
  • 2 TBS chopped fresh rosemary
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chunks

Directions 

  1. Blend garbanzo beans, avocado, water, sesame seeds, lime zest, lime juice, olive oil, and rosemary in a food processor or blender until smooth.
