Hi there! This is Jenni, the Fitness Programmer here at MacEwan University Sport and Wellness, and I’d like to tell you about some of the winter programming that we offer at the centre.spin-class2

Back this year, due to popular demand, are our Blitz classes! Join our highly enthusiastic fitness instructors as they take you through a 30-minute all-out sweat session! Cardio Body Blitz runs Mondays at 4:45-5:15 p.m. and Core Body Blitz runs Wednesdays from 4:45-5:15 p.m. Studies have shown that 30 minutes of moderate to high intensity exercise can be just as beneficial as a full hour of exercise, so why wouldn’t you try it?

Not only are we adding Blitz classes to our value-added repertoire, but we are freshening up our spin classes. Take a trip down to squash court #4 for a spin-tastic good workout!

We have three new types of Spin class this season Revolution Spin utilizes resistance and RPMs to help improve your speed. Looking to develop power and explosiveness instead? Then Power Play classes are for you. Or maybe you’re looking for more of adventure from the comfort of your indoor spin bike. Our Urban Ride classes will take you on a different route, simulating hill climbs, sprints and jumps that you’d encounter outdoors.

And finally, Students start your morning off right with our Student ONLY Spin class. You dictate what music and class type you want to get your sweat on to.

And those changes are just with our value-added classes. We haven’t gotten to our registered classes yet.

Do you want to learn some self-defence? For the first time ever at MacEwan University Sport and Wellness, we’re offering Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu with our very own Kyle Dunlop. Learn this martial art that focuses on grappling, ground control, and submissions while offering generous cardio training and free sparring.

If that sounds too intense for you why not give Capoeira a try? This is a Brazilian martial art that incorporates elements of dance.

A few oldies but goodie classes we’re offering is Bridal Bootcamp on Saturday mornings, and Begin to Spin class Mondays at 5:30 p.m. Both classes are a great place to meet like-minded people who are there to help motivate and keep fit together!
