As of March 31, 2023, there is an update on First Aid program requirements.

The Office of Health, Safety and Environment would like to highlight the following changes:

First aid kits

All first aid kits need to be updated as there are new content requirements and new required supplies should be added. This is a good time to check that your First Aid Kits are fully stocked. The updated First Aid Kit content checklists are now available on the HSE google page under First Aid, found under additional resources.

Additionally, a list of recommended First Aid Suppliers is listed on the website, should additional items need to be purchased.

It is a good practice for each area to inspect their First Aid kits on an annual basis and ensure that the kits are fully stocked, and contents are not expired.

First aid training

As of March 31, first aid courses will have new names; however, the content remains the same.

  • Emergency First Aid CPR-C and AED is now called Basic First Aid CPR-C and AED
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C and AED is now called Intermediate First Aid CPR-C and AED

If your first aid certificate is current, there is no need to retake the training.

However, please be aware that if your current certificate says Emergency First Aid when you go to re-certify, you will take Basic First Aid.

First aid training and recertification are offered regularly throughout the year. Please register via MacEwan Life.
