After a comprehensive review and extensive consultation, the revised Grading Policy and new Grading Procedure have been approved by General Faculties Council, effective September 1, 2021.

The Grading Policy was overdue for a comprehensive review and contained some out-of-date information that required correction. In addition, some elements were reconsidered, and changes implemented. The new Grading Procedure was developed to capture the existing procedural aspects from the Grading Policy as well as some changes and updates to those procedures.

The policy and procedure reflect a focus on supporting student success, implementing a simplified appeal process and providing clarity for both faculty and students regarding the grading practices and evaluation of student performance. The new procedure provides clear steps for appealing marked assessments and outlines specific requirements for the assessment of student work.

The updated policy and new procedure are now published at MacEwan.ca/Policies.
