In addition to Kaltura and Youtube, MacEwan faculty can now use Microsoft Stream for storing and sharing videos. Currently, videos uploaded to Stream are only viewable to internal MacEwan audiences (students/staff/faculty) and not with the general public (i.e., external).

By default, uploaded videos are available to everyone at MacEwan to view. Viewers can search by a user’s name to see all their videos. Using Microsoft permissions, faculty can limit access to a video to specific individuals, members of a Microsoft team or group, or anyone in the organization.

Although faculty can upload videos, the ability to create and organize their videos into channels (i.e., playlists) will require a Microsoft Stream group to be created. Requests can be submitted through the MacEwan Help Centre (MHC).

Faculty who belong to existing Microsoft Teams/Groups can upload videos and create channels to organize their content.

Stream also includes a desktop screen recorder (including camera and microphone) to create 15-minute videos.

More information on uploading and finding videos can be found on the Microsoft Stream site. To decide which video storage solution is right for you, contact MacEwan’s eLearning at elearning@macewan.ca.
