Dr. Lynn Wells announcement
I write, today, to announce the impending departure of Dr. Lynn Wells, Associate Vice-President, Students and Teaching, who will begin an initial, five-year appointment as Provost and Vice-President, Academic at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario on July 1.
This news is bittersweet. With more than a decade of administrative responsibility in increasingly complex roles, Dr. Wells has certainly earned the opportunity to be a Chief Academic Officer. But while she has been with us for only two years, she has made an unmistakable contribution to MacEwan University. She consolidated the “Students” and “Teaching” portfolios, and through her administrative oversight for units like Athletics, Wellness and Psychological Services, eLearning, kihêw waciston, and the Office of Teaching and Learning Services, these units were aligned under the Provost in Academic Affairs. Her policy work has been transformational for our student experience. She even managed to share her scholarly expertise in contemporary British literature in our classrooms.
Though I’ll be grateful for her as a colleague, externally, I will miss her at MacEwan, personally and professionally, as I am sure you will, too. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Wells on her new role.
Over the coming weeks, I will share a temporary acting plan for the Students and Teaching portfolio, as well as details of Dr. Wells’s last day. I will consult with Dr. Trimbee, upon her arrival, before beginning a search for a permanent replacement.
Dr. Craig Monk
Provost & Vice-President, Academic
