Artist book launch: Morgan Wedderspoon – Feb. 29

Submitted by on 2020/02/26 – 8:30 am

Join Morgan Wedderspoon in the Mitchell Art Gallery on February 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate the launch of her artist book, ecology or oblivion. This book is the final stage of a commissioned project that Wedderspoon created in collaboration with gallery visitors, students and community members in Fall 2019.

This three-part, participatory project invited us to speculate with the artist about the year 2030 from the perspective of found objects. Scattered around the built environment created by colonial capitalism, what could these things teach us about disobedience, about “living and dying well together,” as we move into the precarious future of life on Earth?

The artist will discuss her process in creating ecology or oblivion, and a few of her collaborators will read from the texts they wrote for the project.

This limited edition risograph text was produced in a limited quantity – don’t miss your chance to get a copy.
