Radon testing to be conducted in select spaces

Submitted by on 2018/11/07 – 8:30 am

Through a third-party engineering firm, Facilities will be conducting radon testing in the basements of Buildings 5 and 6 and the ground floors in both the daycare and Residence.

This is happening as a proactive measure. Radon is receiving attention by Health Canada as it is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and a contributing cause in smokers. Additionally, a recent change to the Alberta Building Code requires all new construction to install radon testing infrastructure.

Detectors will be placed in selected rooms for a period of 90 days, commencing Nov. 13, 2018. Please do not touch or remove the detectors. If you have any questions please contact Miriam Stanisavljevic, Facilities Quality Manager.
