UWALK Summer Steps Group Challenge: What’s your next flight?

Submitted by on 2014/08/06 – 8:30 am

Stair climb your way to better health

Intensity, duration and frequency are contributing factors to the benefits of physical activity. Walking is considered to be a low-moderate intensity aerobic exercise while stair climbing is considered to be more of a moderate-vigorous intensity workout. In addition to being aerobically taxing, stair climbing also provides muscular strength gains, engaging your hamstrings and glutes as you push to the top!

Did you know one flight of stairs counts as 10 steps? Or that 15 minutes of stair climbing is equivalent to 30 minutes of running?

UWALK Trivia Game: Question 5 of 5

“Mother Nature’s StairMaster” – Using UWALK’s calculations (1,250 steps = 1 km), how many kilometres is the trail?

a) 2.9 km
b) 1.8 km
c) 2.26 km
d) 3.2 km

You must be a Summer Steps Group Challenge participant to win a prize. Correct entries will be put into a draw and a winner will be selected for each question. Submit your answers to Susie at susanne.materi@macewan.ca.
