Summer Music Theory at the Conservatory of Music

Any student taking music lessons in the Toronto Conservatory system can get their theory requirements satisfied in the Alberta College Conservatory of Music Summer Theory Program.

Students learn with their peers in small classes at a fraction of the cost of private lessons. These intensive five-week courses prepare students for RCM national exams up to grade 10 practical level. ARCT-level courses can also be taken on a private or semi-private basis. Enrolled students who have not applied for their exam by the June 3 deadline can apply through our office on the first day of class without penalty.


Monday through Thursday, July 2 – August 5 (no class August 4)

  • Complete Rudiments: 9 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Basic Harmony: 10:30 – 11:50 a.m.
  • History 1 – An Overview: 12 – 1:30 p.m.
  • History 2 – Middle Ages to Classical: 10:30 – 11:50 a.m.
  • Intermediate Harmony: 12 – 1:30 p.m.

Instructors: Dr Robert Klakowich, Cameron Watson

Tuition: $425 per course (not including workbooks)
