Match12For the second time this tournament, UBC Okanagan Heat and the Humber College Hawks meet up to ultimately determine the Bronze Medal winners Saturday evening. Their first meeting ended in favour of the Heat but  Humber clawed their way back to meet UBCO again.

UBCO’s setter Preston Tucker openened up the match with two aces, then added a few more later on in the set to force a time out for the Hawks. The two teams battled for every point as the difference was never more than three points apart, but the Heat took the first set 25-22.

The second set was the very same struggle for every point with some impressive big blocks by UBCO Chris Howe and Mark Broome against the heavy hitting Humber three times in a row to win the point. The Heat pulled ahead once again near the end to finish the set off at 25-21.

UBCO had an early start on the third set and kept their momentum to maintain the lead throughout. Humber’s mistakes increased with their frustration and they dropped the third set 25-18 giving the Heat the victory and the Bronze Medal.
