The official STARS Silver Certificate was received on January 20, 2015. The university achieved a Silver rating with a score of 49.31.
The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance.
“Achievement of the STARS Silver rating validates the university’s sustainability efforts and also acts as a baseline to monitor our progress moving forward,” says David Atkinson, president of MacEwan University. “Our namesake, Dr. Grant MacEwan, was ahead of his time in terms of his interest and passion for sustainability, and this passion runs through all the university’s departments, connecting the university to issues of global responsibility, environmental stewardship and social equity.”
